Ponce, Puerto Rico

Ponce is a beautiful town on the southern side of Puerto Rico that entices guests with it's art, history, and food. If you are looking for a fun time in Puerto Rico, head to Ponce!

Sunshine, street food, and a lively night life make up the city of Ponce. If you travel to this large Puerto Rican city you will see many lion statues decorated in various ways. It is encouraged to take pictures with these unique statues. I stayed at a three star hotel named Ponce Plaza Hotel & Casino. The rooms were lavish and had an amazing view of the city, as pictured above. In the hotel there was a cafe and restaurant, and although they were a bit pricey, they offered some delicious cuisines. In the cafe I even enjoyed a pistachio macaroon for breakfast! Around Ponce Plaza there were many delectable restaurants ranging from Pizzerias to taco bar night clubs. Yes! There was a place that sold tacos in the front, but there was a door to the nightclub in the back.

TIP: If you are out in Ponce late at night make sure you are with friends and stay out of side streets because there is quite a bit of crime late at night.

The second day in Ponce was a fun one because I got to snorkel! In the morning I headed out on the waters in a catamaran. On the way to a reef we passed house boats and private islands. We even stopped at the island where Jack Sparrow gets stranded at. I snorkeled at the reef for three hours! Although the back of my legs got pretty sun burned I think it was worth it to see the various fish, coral, and seashells. My favorite creatures were the sea urchins with foot long spikes. After our excursion we drank piña coladas and ate fresh fruit while sitting on top of the catamaran. After an adventure filled day I happily went to sleep dreaming of the excursions to come.
